Full leather featuring a double gilt border to the front and rear boards, gilt floral detail in between each of the five raised bands to the spine and gilt lettering to the spine. The boards are in very good condition with some rubbing to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine. Beautifully marbled endpapers. There is an ink inscription dated 1893 to the flyleaf. The contents are age toned with some light - moderate foxing - the tissue guard to the frontispiece is heavily browned. Featuring sixty illustrations by George Cruikshank, John Leech and John Tenniel. All edges vibrant gilt. 

 

The Ingoldsby Legends are a collection of myths, legends, ghost stories and poems written by Richard Harris Barham, born in Canterbury in 1788.
