This is a very good first edition of this illustrated biography of Queen Victoria.

As stated in the advertisement for the book on the first page 'this important work tells in a bright, vivid, anecdotal style, the life-story of our late and honoured and beloved sovereign, in ther personal as well as her public relationships. The value of the literary text is enhanced by a series of about 80 plates, engraved in half-tone, illustrative of Her Majesty's domestic life, portraits of her family, and many scenes associated with her eventful career.'

Uniformly bound in the publisher's red cloth with decorative Art Nouveau style red cloth bindings by Talwin Morris. With some rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spines and light surface wear, consistent to all volumes. Volume I has more discolouration to the rear board than the others, as shown in the photographs. Slight fading to the spines. Endpapers and contents clean and bright throughout. The frontispiece to volume II is detached but sits neatly in place. All edges gilt.

Overall a super set which is very attractive on the shelf.
