1907 The Letters of Queen Victoria. Published by John Murray.

This is a beautiful set of three volumes of The Letters of Queen Victoria: A Selection from her Majesty's Correspondence between the years 1837 and 1861. Published by authority of the King. Edited by Arthur Christopher Benson and Viscount Esher.
Published in 1907 by John Murray: London.
Bound in red cloth with an attractive ivory and gilt design to the front cover, and gilt lettering/design to the spine. The boards are in good, solid condition with some minor shelf wear.
**Sadly - each volume has suffered what I can only assume is water damage - this is superficial only, and is mostly visible to the rear boards. I have included a photograph of the rear board to volume I, as that is the worst. Despite this, the spines are lovely in appearance, whilst the marking to the front covers is minor by comparison. The contents are unaffected.
Internally the contents are very good. Cream endpapers with a pencil inscription dated 1907 to the front free endpaper. The pages are light age toned with some tanning to the endpapers. Each volume has a frontispiece with tissue guard. There is some age spotting to the page edges. Top edge gilt.
Each volume is complete with original dust jacket, which have not been affected by any damage. The jackets each have wear and minor tears/loss to the edges, with some light soiling and some minor fading to the spines. The design of the jackets matches the bindings, but it is in black.
Volume I - 1837 - 1843 - pp.641
Volume II - 1854 - 1861 - pp.660 plus a fold out family tree showing the descendants of the House of Hanover.
Volume III - 1844 - 1853 - pp.575.
Weight without packaging: 3.5kg
This really is a very beautiful set. Yes, it is a shame that the boards have markings, but the dust jackets do not, and the contents are very good indeed. I have priced the set accordingly.
