1st Edition 1907 The Rhyme of a Run and Other Verse by Florence Harrison
This is a beautiful copy of The Rhyme of a Run and other Verse, Written and pictured by Florence Harrison, an Australian-born artist known for her rich, art nouveau style. Born in 1877, Florence became a prolific and well-respected artist. In addition to her own publications, she also illustrated books for Christina Rossetti, William Morris, and Alfred Tennyson. The Rhyme of a Run was published in 1907, and was Harrison's second work after "Rhymes and Reasons," which she published in 1905. Bound in the original olive cloth and pictorially stamped in green, black, orange and gilt, with gold lettering to spine and gold and black lettering to front cover. The boards are in very good overall condition. There is some rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine. There is some light soiling and a small brown mark to the front cover. Exceptionally clean, decorative endpapers. 21 tipped in colour plates which are all present. Tipped in plates are prone to coming loose and some appear to have been stuck in, no doubt to prevent loss. Some have a few creases, although I believe this was a finishing fault caused on production. One plate has a tear, as shown in the pictures. All are vibrant and remain beautiful. 12 illustrations in line with associated verses. This is a scarce book in really lovely condition, perfect for a collector. Unpaginated. 920g. c.29.5cm x 23cm.
