1st UK EDITION Madeline's Rescue by Ludwig Bemelmans

This is an absolutely stunning 1st UK Edition of Madeline's Rescue by Ludwig Bemelmans. It is rare to find a copy with a dust jacket that is in such good condition!
Ludwig Bemelmans (1898-1962) was the author of the beloved Madeline books, including Madeline, a Caldecott Honor Book, and Madeline’s Rescue, winner of the Caldecott Medal in 1954.

Red boards with pictorial design in black to the front cover and black lettering to the spine. The boards are in near fine condition with only very minor bumping to the corners. Complete with unclipped dust jacket (12s. 6d.) which is in very good condition - the colours are vibrant and bright, and there is some minor wear to the edges and a small tear measuring about 3cm to the lower front of the dust jacket plus a couple of much smaller, minor tears. Wonderfully decorative endpapers, and beautifully illustrated throughout. The pages are near fine and free from inscriptions.
