Poems include 'Little Sorrow' by William Shakespeare, 'Cradle Song' by Lord Tennyson, 'Then' by Walter de la Mare, 'The Shepherd Boy's Song' by John Bunyan, 'The Ivy Green' by Charles Dickens, 'Pocahontas' by William Makepeace Thackeray, 'The Bells' by Edgar Allan Poe, and more.

The boards are in very good condition with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities and minor surface wear. There is an ownership label to the front free endpaper. The majority of the pages are very clean and bright, but there is some moderate to heavy foxing to the preliminary pages, which becomes intermittent and then disappears by about p.26. Also a crease to p.219. llustrated with a colour frontispiece, and seven plates, by Honor C. Appleton.
