Firmly bound in leather with gilt detail to the front/rear boards and spine. The gilt has faded, more so to the front boards and spine - the rear board remain much brighter. There is some rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine. As shown in the images there is a large owner's inscription to the front pastedown dated 1878 - the endpapers have a few grubby marks, but nothing significant. Featuring a frontispiece in colour with tissue guard, a decorative title page and full title page. Each full page chromo-lithograph has a tissue guard. The contents are age toned with foxing/browning to the tissue guards, but they are otherwise in good, clean condition. This is a heavy item at 4kg without packaging.
