Elizabeth Gaskell is best known for novels such as Cranford or Mary Barton, but she also penned a large number of wonderful short stories, all of which are worth a read! 
 
Blue/green cloth with gilt vine design to the front cover and gilt lettering to the spine. The boards are in good condition with some light rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine, and there are a couple of lighter marks to the surface. The book feels slightly shaken and the front and rear internal hinges have small cracks. The book does however remain firmly bound. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Contents age toned with occasional foxing, and page 24 has a light splash stain. This does not affect the text. Page edges rough cut.
