This is a lovely set of five books by Charles Dickens. The details of each individual book are as follows:
The Chimes published by Golden Galley Press Ltd: London in 1946. pp.112. Bound in black cloth with silver coloured lettering to the spine. The boards are in very good condition with only minor wear to the extremities. Decorative endpapers. The pages are clean and bright throughout. Featuring four colour plates and numerous black and white illustrations.
The Personal History of David Copperfield published by Chapman and Hall: London in 1869. pp.533. Half-bound in red faux leather with five raised bands and gilt lettering to the spine. Fairly early edition in more recent binding. Marbled endpapers. Contents age toned, more heavily to the preliminary pages and endpages, with only the occasional spot of foxing.
Sketches by Boz published by Collins' Clear-Type Press and illustrated by T. H. Robinson. Green cloth featuring an attractive Art Nouveau design in red to the front cover and spine. The boards are in good overall condition with some surface soiling and some light rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine. pp.448
Hard Times and Pictures from Italy published by Chapman and Hall: London. Undated. Half bound in black leather with marbled boards. The boards are in good overall condition though there is some wear to the extremities and chips to the leather. A small text of the text block from pages 145 - 160 are partially detached (still bound by a thread only) and the pages protrude slightly, as shown in the final photograph.
The Old Curiosity Shop published by Thomas Nelson and Sons Ltd. Undated but possibly 1960s. Cream cloth with gilt lettering over a burgundy title band to the spine. The boards are in good overall condition with some light surface soiling and minor wear to extremities. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper dated 1968. Contents clean and bright throughout.
