RARE BOOK! First Edition. The Other Side of the Sun by Evelyn Sharp.
This is a very scarce book and very much one for the collector! It is hard to find in any condition, making this one a particularly lovely copy. The Other Side of the Sun by Evelyn Sharp, illustrated by Nellie Syrett. c. 1900 Published by John Lane: The Bodley Head, London & New York. Undated. First edition, bound in the original pictorial cloth. Strong binding. The boards and spine have some fading/scuffing. There is some wear to the head and tail of the spine and some rubbing/bumping to the edges and corners. The pages are lightly age toned with a few handling marks here and there. There is an ownership stamp in ink to the front paste down and also the front free end paper, plus a couple of pencil marks. Beautifully illustrated. 7 full page colour plates - there should be 8. ONE PLATE MISSING. I didn't actually notice this initially as there is no evidence to suggest a plate is missing. It was only when I went through a scanned copy from the British Library that I realised. It really does not impact on the beauty of this rare book at all. Contains the following stories: The Weird Witch of the Willow-Herb, The Magician's Tea-Party, The Hundredth Princess, Somebody Else's Prince, The Tears of Princess Prunella, The Palace on the Floor, The Lady Daffodilia, The Kite that Went to the Moon. pp.188. Weight 592g.
