This is a complete six volume set of first editions of the author's most famous work. As all volumes are uniform in their condition I will describe them as a whole. Each volume is bound in black cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. All are in good, solid condition with only light wear to the extremities. Volume VI has a stain to the front board as shown in the images provided. All volumes come complete with their original unclipped dust jackets. All jackets have some light wear to the edges, but volume I has slightly more, with a tear to both the lower and upper spine. The contents are all good - lightly age toned with some spotting/marking to the page edges. Three of the volumes have the same ink inscription to the front free endpaper. Overall a very good set.
It was wholly appropriate that in 1953 Churchill was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature” (Keegan). Named by Modern Library as one of the 100 best non-fiction books of the twentieth century. It placed number one on the 100 best non-fiction books of the twentieth century by National Review magazine.
